A picture rail (also called picture molding) is used to hold an S-shaped hook, from which framed pictures or tapestries can be hung. Besides being highly decorative itself, the benefits of picture rail are many - artwork can be maneuvered easily as your room style changes, your walls are preserved, and highly decorative hooks with fabric and bows are also available. Picture rail moldings are usually in the profile shown here, but more ornamental ones are available. For Arts & Crafts homes, simple prairie-style flat boards can be used, racheted to accept the hook of the S-hook. Picture rail is normally placed one to two feet below the ceiling (less for shorter ceilings).

Priced at just $1.49 per linear foot. Available unfinished and wide variety of stained finishes.
