FAUX PLASTER WALLS FOR 1940s HOMEFaux Plaster Finish Highlighting Tunisian Antiques

This home was owned by a very artistic family with interests in theatre and dance. The owners were particularly fond of Anglo-Japanese styles (i.e., Aesthetic movement styling), and had a room featuring warmly colored art with tropical motifs. In addition, the room featured luxuriously appointed textiles and Tunisian and Moorish furniture, woodwork, and pottery.

Urban Revivals responded with a design featuring a marbled ceiling, anaglypta gilded ceiling borders, ornamental moldings, and walls finished in a faux plaster finish. The plaster finish was troweled on, and was tinted a light sand-terracotta color.

The anaglypta was gilded and applied with clay adhesive. The ceiling trim was speckled and is reminiscent of bamboo.

The ceiling was the most difficult to create, and is a three-part marbled finish in sage green, darker teal-green, and sand colors. It was finished in a matte varnish.
