Completed Faux Painting Project - Ragrolling for Formal AreasTRADITIONAL ROOM WITH NEOCLASSICAL ACCENTS

RAGROLLING PROJECT

This lovely home in Potomac MD was tastefully appointed in shades of creme, light tan, mint greens, and persimmon colors. The fireplace, originally painted white, was antiqued to "play up" its neoclassical carvings and appliqués.

The walls, originally and light pinkish peach, were converted to a less saturated rose color. After a base coat in a pale taupe, the rose glaze was applied and rolled off with thick fiber rags. A water-based wipe was used, which meant the work was done in place very quickly, as water-based wipes do not have the work time of oil.

We find that the lacy appearance of a water-based finish can be extremely attractive when combined with floral patterns and other details normally seen in traditional decors. In contrast, oil-based rag rolling can take on a look more reminiscent of plasterwork.
