A c.1916 Dupont Circle DC condominium is restored by our team from its
drab paint job into a gilded lady. The Maw tiles were cleaned and
restored, the walls painted a pale yellow with banded ceiling trim,
plasterwork repaired, and ornament was gilded.

Our client's builder had installed a sturdy
stair landing with very poor wood. Yet,
the floor was made of oak and heavily grained. Urban Revivals primed the
stairs, faux-grained the wood to match, and preserved it with
several layers of satin antique varnish.

This bathroom had changed little from its
1930's design. Fortunately, it still possessed the old black-and-white
hexagonal tiles on the floor, and a compatible design for the walls. The
renovated bathroom featured black and white papers of bathroom vanities,
upgraded trim, re-plastered walls, newly applied wallpaper, upgraded
fixtures.

This 1930'stable with drop-leaf ends, had taken a
beating over the years. Interestingly, it appears to have been covered with
a pigmented varnish (oil-based varnish with dry pigments added) to give it a
purplish-black coloring. This table was
ebonized. |
