Gold leaf is uniquely decorative, and has long been associated with kings and nobility. But with Dutch leaf, you can create a similar effect for your home at much less cost! Gilding has been a part of furniture and accessories decoration since the days of  pharaohs, and can now add sparkle to your home.
Urban Revivals specializes in mat leaf finishes, in which leaf is laid upon an oil or quick varnish sizing. Dutch metal leaf can emulate gold, silver, or copper. We can apply gesso, sizing, bole, and leaf to wood, plaster, and metal items. We will use the techniques associated with antique leaf, creating points of wear revealing a foundation color of red, yellow ochre, or gray. We can even age the gilded finishes to give the look of dust and crackling (see Renaissance gild finish above).

We particularly recommend the glow of red bole as it peeks behind a layer of transparent leaf, warming the gold and inducing a higher brilliance when the gold leaf is polished. We can also use mat gilding with powders to emulate pale gold, French Gold (a deep shade) or rich gold with its strong brassy tones.
