RAGGING ON - RAGGING OFF   FAUX FINISHES

Before and After pictures are shown. Urban Revivals can quickly complete ragging on or ragging off treatments for your walls or ceilings. We use water-based paint and oil-based glaze treatments, for quick and beautiful translucent finishes. We can rag off using paper towels (for a stone-like look), plastic wrap (reminiscent of grasses or coarse textured walls) or soft linen (for walls that look like crushed velvet). A ragging-off technique using soft linen is shown here.

(We prepare different samples, directly on your walls, for your review. Shown at left) Our finishes are ragged  over a white background, or any base coat color of your choosing. You can pick the texture and color right for you.

We can use existing painted walls, but highly recommend that their surface be in good shape. We recommend that the two colors used (base coat and ragging color) be  "one color chip" apart in terms of lightness/darkness, when picking commercial colors from companies such as DURON or SHERWIN-WILLIAMS. Using colors that are too far apart in contrast will not yield as attractive an effect. For ragging treatments, we put actual samples on your wall, as shown, to make sure you obtain the effect that is right for you!

Ragging is ideal in dining rooms, dens, parlous, and bathrooms. In areas where moisture is present, the finish is sealed with a matte varnish or polyurethane. Contact us for more information.
